SECO Energy is accepting applications for the 2027 Youth Tour Leadership Program! Selected students will travel to Tallahassee, FL (Feb 10-11, 2027) to tour the Florida Capitol, connect with leaders across the state, and learn about the cooperative business model. Plus, four students will earn a trip to Washington, D.C. in June 2027 to explore iconic national landmarks and meet student leaders nationwide!
Best part? Transportation, meals, and hotel accommodations are 100% PAID by SECO Energy!
Who is eligible?
- Current high school juniors (or home-schooled equivalent)
- Reside in a home served by SECO Energy with an active account

Do you know the story of the crook?
Introduced in 1917 while students were still at Lee School, the custom was originated by teacher Emma Williams to increase school spirit. The outgoing seniors would hide the crook for the Juniors to find. If found, they would earn their senior privileges. The crook was hidden so well by the class of 1932 that it wasn’t found until renovations were made and the crook was recovered under the auditorium stage in 1974.
The tradition was rekindled in 1991 with principal Jim Polk. The school also began adding bands to the staff with names of the student body president for that year.
You can view the crook in person at the Centennial Festival on October 24th!

Today is the day! The Leesburg Jackets take on the Mount Dora Hurricanes tonight, and Fox 35 is getting everyone excited. News crews are at both schools today for a Friday Football Blitz with the bands, cheerleaders, players, and more. Whether you're cheering for the Jackets or the ‘Canes, tune in from 8-10 a.m. and join the fun!
LHS Historic Fun Fact 👀
Leesburg High School is known for it's distinct Spanish style architecture with the iron gates, and the stone fountain, but the scene is not complete without the towering palm trees outlining the courtyard. 🌴 The majestic palms were planted by the class of 1931 and stood for generations. Sadly, only a couple remain today.
