Lake County Schools Media Services engages learners with rich content and resources and fosters collaborative partnerships in a welcoming environment. We empower all by providing access to resources that spark curiosity, build information literacy, and inspire lifelong learning.

Students are encouraged to explore, read widely, conduct research, and engage in hands-on learning experiences that enhance their academic success.

Library Collection

  • Search Our Collection: Browse books available in our media center and across Lake County Schools using Destiny.

  • Digital Content: Students have access to eBooks, audiobooks, comics, and magazines through Sora, available in ClassLink.

Classroom Libraries

Our school's classroom library book lists are available to the public through Destiny District Classroom Library Manager (DCLM). View our Classroom Libraries.

Research Databases

Students can access research tools through Classlink, including EBSCO and Gale.

Collection Development Plan

Each school maintains a Collection Development Plan that outlines how materials are selected and maintained. View our Collection Development Plan.

Students, staff, and families may recommend titles, authors, or subjects for consideration using our Suggest-a-Title form.

Parental Choice

Parents and guardians can manage student access to library materials through the Book Opt-Out options in Focus.

  • Unless preferences are changed, students may access any material located in Lake County Schools at their school level or below.

  • Some titles require parental permission, which is managed by the library media specialist.

Reading Programs

FAME Book Awards

Students are encouraged to read titles from the annual Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME) lists, which includes SSYRA Jr., SSYRA 3-5, SSYRA 6-8, Florida Teens Read, and Orange Blossom Non-Fiction. After reading at least three books from a list, students may vote for their favorite in the spring.

Superintendent’s Reading Challenge

  • Elementary: Read 10–25 books

  • Middle School: Read 12 books

  • High School: Read 8 books

Students who complete the challenge earn certificates, and schools with the highest participation earn recognition.
