From event planning and culinary arts to tourism and guest services, hospitality students learn real-world skills that keep people happy, safe, and coming back for more. Lake County Schools students get a head start through the Culinary Arts program offered at East Ridge, Eustis, Lake Minneola, Leesburg, Mount Dora, South Lake, Tavares and Umatilla high schools. This CTE Month, our students are preparing for high-demand careers with growth, creativity, and endless opportunities!

On February 19 our LHS Jazz Bands attended the Florida Band Masters Association’s District 19 Jazz Music Performance Assessment. These students have been working on this music since January and performed in front of a panel of 3 judges rating them on a scale of Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent, and Superior (F-A grade scale). They’re judged on 3 major categories of technical, musical, and fundamental skills with various subcategories.
Congratulations to the LHS Swing Band for earning their first Jazz MPA Superior (an A rating) in 14 years! This also qualifies them to attend the State level assessment held next month!
Congratulations to the LHS Big Band for their first ever Jazz MPA appearance. They earned straight Excellents (a B rating) in their debut!
