LHS Fun Historic Fact
The building of the new LHS brought many families to Leesburg. One of those families was the Matthews family. James F. Matthews was hired as a builder of the new school and moved his family here from Livingston, Tennessee.
His son, Kenneth Matthews, was a proud Jacket that graduated in 1938 and went on to serve our country in WWII. His son, Kenneth (Kirk) Matthews, was a star Jacket student-athlete as well as the band's drum major. He graduated in 1967.
Finally, Jackie Matthews, Kirk's daughter was very involved in student government and athletics. She graduated with the class of 2000. What an honor to have 4 generations walk these historic halls.
Look for Jackie and her dad at the centennial celebration weekend!

🏡🔨 Building more than a house—we’re building futures!
This week we kicked off another year of the Leesburg High School Youth Construction Academy, and we’re excited to watch these students learn, build, and grow throughout the year!
A huge THANK YOU to Habitat for Humanity and RoMac Building Supply, for investing in our students and helping make it possible for them to build a home for a local family. ❤️
The next generation of builders is getting to work!
